On one hand it’s a band that sold more than 35 million albums with classic hits like Ballroom Blitz, Fox on the Run, and Love is Like Oxygen. Since then, three of the original members formed their own separate versions of the band—often operating at the same time. In 2008 original bass player Steve Priest formed his own versions of the band. Sadly in 2020, Steve Priest died at the age of 72. However, both Steve Priest and his family bestowed the responsibility of curating the Sweet’s legacy to Richie Onori and Stevie Stewart. They not only continued as Sweet they’ve also recorded new material. It’s an incredibly interesting story. One that offers a new take on what it means to keep a rich musical heritage intact. On top of this Keith has also been a longtime radio host on Hair Nation and Ozzy's Boneyard. Keith talks all about that plus his longtime collaboration with the late David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain of the New York Dolls and many others (having appeared on more than 50 albums over the last 25 years). In 1983 Kajagoogoo released their first single, “Too Shy”. The song became a massive international hit in Great Britain, the US, Canada, Japan, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, and about a half dozen other countries. The song was so huge that EMI were pressing 35,000 copies a day to keep up with demand! My guest this week on BAXIES MUSICAL PODCAST is former lead singer Limahl.
