Proud Boys - Who are they? What do they want?
Mar 21, 2023
Ed Opperman interviews 'former Proud Boy' about the group, it's ethos and exactly why they are such a threat to the way of life in America. From wikipediaThe Proud Boys is an exclusively male North American far-right neo-fascist organization that promotes and engages in political violence in the United States. It has been called a street gang and was designated as a terrorist group in Canada and New Zealand. The Proud Boys are known for their opposition to left-wing and progressive groups and their support for former U.S. President Donald Trump. The group originated in the far-right Taki's Magazine in 2016 under the leadership of Vice Media co-founder and former commentator Gavin McInnes, taking its name from the song "Proud of Your Boy" from the 2011 Disney musical Aladdin.Although the Proud Boys initially emerged as part of the alt-right, McInnes distanced himself from this movement in early 2017, saying the Proud Boys were alt-lite while the alt-right's focus was on race. Donald Trump's comment, "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by," during the October 2020 presidential debates are credited with greatly increasing interest and recruitment. Enrique Tarrio, an Afro-Cuban Cuban-American, has been the chairman of the Proud Boys since late 2018. According to a former federal prosecutor and the transcripts of a 2014 federal court proceeding, Tarrio had previously served as an informant to both federal and local law enforcement.

Son of Stewart Rhodes
Sep 12, 2022
Dakota Adams joins Ed Opperman to talk about his indoctrination into the cult his father started and his eventual escape and recovery. In a thoughtful and intelligent conversation, Mr Adams put his point of view about his past, and his disassociation with both his father and the militia he leads. One review readsIt is the best account of the collective descent into anti-goverment lunacy and the equally collective rise of the very same people screaming for big-government fascism I have yet seen. Background on Stewart RhodesStewart Rhodes is an Army veteran and former lawyer. He founded the Oath Keepers, a right-wing, anti-government extremist group. Rhodes worked as a lawyer in Montana, and is the main spokesman for the Oath Keepers. Rhodes believes there is a global oligarchy that will destroy the US, and that the country will be taken over by "Marxist leftists."

Jake Chansley - Qanon Shaman
Sep 11, 2023
With Qanon still maintaining a grip of a sizeable number of people, The Opperman Report thought it would be interesting to catch up with the iconic Jacob Chansley, who many will recall was the man in the painted face and horns who was pictured in the House of Congress on January 6th, 2021.In a fascinating interview, Chansley talks about his motivations and beliefs, and why Qanon has become such a movement.Jacob Chansley also known under the name Jake Angeli, and as the QAnon Shaman, Q Shaman,d Yellowstone Wolf, is an American alt-right conspiracy theorist and activist who participated in the January 6 attack on the United States Capitol, which he was convicted of felony charges of obstructing an official proceeding. He has been a supporter of President Donald Trump and a believer and disseminator of the QAnon conspiracy theory.Chansley attended demonstrations in the Phoenix, Arizona, area starting around 2019, in particular in a march for climate. At rallies, he promoted conspiracy theories supporting Trump, and he has been a counterprotestor at Black Lives Matter events. His appearance, with face paint utilizing the colors and symbols of the American flag and a headdress made of animal fur, helped to establish his shaman nicknames. After being photographed taking part in the January 6 storming of the Capitol, Chansley was arrested on January 9 on federal charges of "knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, and with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds". He pleaded guilty to a single charge in September, and was sentenced to 41 months (3.4 yr) in prison in November 2021. He served out a portion of his sentence at Federal Correctional Institution - Safford in Safford, Arizona, and was transferred to a halfway house on March 28, 2023, from which he was released on May 25, 2023.

Abel Thomlinson - Radical Change in the USA - Prospects for Domestic Revolution
Yesterday
It is safe to say that a growing number of Americans realize that radical change is needed in the United States. Millions of Americans know there is something deeply wrong with our endless wars and the trillions of dollars we waste on them.Millions of Americans know there is something deeply wrong with our economy, democracy, healthcare system, criminal justice system and environmental policies. A growing number of Americans know that both parties are a big part of the problem. To investigate this problem, it is instructive to dissect the recent election, and examine why defeat of the “lesser evil” is potentially beneficial to achieve radical change for peace, justice and human survival.
