The Trump Administration’s Low-Effort Persecution (Hour 2)
5/30/2025
Earlier this week, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem tweeted about a Wisconsin resident who allegedly wrote a letter expressing intent to kill President Trump. All evidence points to the contrary, indicating that this individual was set up, and that his reputation has been irreversibly ruined by this false accusation.
Meeting new people can be anxiety-inducing, especially if you’re not a big fan of handshakes. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: handshakes or fist bumps? We take your calls and texts.

Introducing Civic Media News Director Chali Pittman (Hour 1)
5/30/2025
After a quick tribute to a few of our colleagues new and old, Todd moves to some of the most important news of the day. According to Dan Bice at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, over 130 retired judges are urging the court system to drop their case against Milwaukee Judge Dugan.
The Trump administration is further meddling in Wisconsin affairs, identifying Shawano County as a “sanctuary county” for immigrants. This has no basis in reality. Shawano County is, however, a self-identified sanctuary county for second amendment gun rights. It is very likely that Trump’s team used AI to find any county or city that mentioned the word “sanctuary” without actually looking into the specifics.
At the bottom of the hour, we are proud to introduce Chali Pittman, Civic Media’s new News Director! She has worked in journalism and radio for years, and comes to us most recently from WORT, a community radio station here in Madison. She did excellent work in their news department, and we are excited for her to share her expertise in highlighting what’s important to our communities.

Trump And Musk’s Fiery Public Breakup (Hour 2)
5/29/2025
As the kids come home from school this summer, Todd asks us What’s Worse: being too busy or having nothing to do? We take your calls and texts.
There has been a disastrous breakup in the White House! Elon Musk is officially leaving his position as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, as President Trump has “broken up” with him. This is likely because of Trump’s distaste for those he deems “losers,” a category Elon Musk now lies in after funding the losing side of Wisconsin’s state supreme court election. While the effects of DOGE cuts will cause serious problems and cost many lives around the world, Todd tries to bring some levity by playing some of the most popular breakup songs of all time.

Trump’s Pardon Parade and the Battle of Buffets (Hour 2)
5/28/2025
Todd Allbaugh dives into Trump's controversial pardons, spotlighting Scott Jenkins, a former Virginia sheriff convicted of bribery and fraud, who got a last-minute pardon from Trump. Allbaugh questions the ethics behind such pardons, suggesting a pay-to-play scheme. The episode also debates the culinary conundrum: what's worse, a la carte menus or buffets? Listeners weigh in on the choice between pricey, exclusive dishes and the unpredictable quality of buffets. Amidst the banter, the episode touches on international student visa issues and celebrates Badger basketball's John Blackwell returning to school, bringing a hopeful note to the mix.

Once Again, Trump Disrespects Those In Uniform (Hour 2)
5/27/2025
This afternoon, Todd asks us a very controversial question for What’s Worse: Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers? Both of Green Bay’s most recent MVP quarterbacks have less-than-stellar reputations. We take your calls and texts on which is worse.
At the bottom of the hour, Todd shifts gears to cover the serious news from the weekend. President Trump spoke at the commencement ceremony for West Point, one of America’s finest military academies. Between his attire, behavior, and rhetoric, Todd believes that Trump has made a mockery of those who put on the uniform.
In stark contrast to our president, Scott Pelley of CBS and 60 Minutes spoke at a different commencement ceremony. He spoke openly and honestly, protesting the decline of free speech in America.

The House Of Representatives Votes To Gut Healthcare (Hour 1)
5/22/2025
Today, Todd joins us live from beautiful Black River Falls. After convening around 1 am last night, the House of Representatives passed their reconciliation bill by one vote early this morning. If it passes in the senate and is implemented, this bill may have dire consequences for the people of Wisconsin, particularly when it comes to healthcare.
At the bottom of the hour, we are joined by James Kelly, Northwestern Wisconsin Bureau Chief for Civic Media News. He reminds us of the current healthcare struggles in rural Wisconsin and how they will be exacerbated by this reconciliation bill. The HSHS hospital system closed due to insufficient Medicaid reimbursement, and this bill looks to cut Medicaid further.
After the discussion on the “big, beautiful bill,” James updates us on other news from his area of the state, including yet another abandoned boat.

5/21/2025
As we head into Memorial Day weekend, there are plenty of opportunities for refreshing beverages, but they aren’t always amazing. Todd asks us What’s Worse: flat soda or warm beer?
At the bottom of the hour, Gordy Kopke of Kopke’s Greenhouse (a sponsor of Civic Media) returns to answer your plant-related questions. One of Todd’s favorite treats is homemade salsa with fresh ingredients, all of which are available from Kopke’s. Mental Health Month with Kira Sabin: Coping Methods (Hour 1)
5/20/2025
Over the weekend, former President Joe Biden announced that he has been diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Biden family, and we hope that treatment is effective. After sending out a supportive Tweet, current President Trump displayed a lack of empathy when responding to interview questions about the cancer diagnosis, focusing instead on the results of his own physical exams.
In other saddening news, two women died yesterday in a shooting at the UW-Platteville dorms.
After bringing up this tragedy, we are joined by positive psychology coach Kira Sabin for the second in a three-part series for Mental Health Awareness Month. Today, she talks about strategies for coping with the hand life deals us.

Brian Schimming Agrees With Van Orden… Mostly (Hour 1)
5/19/2025
Over the weekend in Rothschild, WI, the Republican Party of Wisconsin held their annual convention. When asked why conservative candidates have been losing in our state’s supreme court races, Congressman Derrick Van Orden responded that “Republicans don’t vote in Spring elections.” He went as far as to say that we should get rid of Spring elections in their entirety, folding everything into the Fall ballot. RPW Chairman Brian Schimming was asked if he agrees with Van Orden, and his response was hilarious.
At the bottom of the hour, State Senator Kelda Roys joins us once again in-studio to cover the latest developments from the Joint Finance Committee’s budget negotiations. The bottom line is that, as we’ve come to expect, extreme partisanship is largely blocking all progress in formulating a budget. From childcare to education and beyond, Sen. Roys walks us through the investments she believes will help drive Wisconsin forward.
