His Best Baseball Shape (White Sox Series Recap, 3/31-4/2)

While Game 1 wasn't pretty, the Minnesota Twins did finally get one win and then another one to take two of three against the Chicago White Sox, evening them up with the rest of the AL Central's teams at 2-4. So in that sense, it's a whole new ballgame for the final 156 this Major League Baseball season. David and Dan discuss the lows of Chris Paddack's start and then the highs of the games that followed, which featured improved outputs from Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa. David really likes how Rocco Baldelli is managing leadoff man Matt Wallner, while Dan struggles to justify keeping Paddack on the active roster should the veteran starter struggle again the next time through the rotation. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

Can't Blame the Children (Cardinals Series Recap, 3/28-3/30)
3/31/2025
Send us a text
The 2025 season starts right about where the 2024 Minnesota Twins left off as they lose all three to the Cardinals in St. Louis. David and Dan assess what went wrong (lots) and highlight what went right (Willi Castro and Randy Dobnak). David was happy to see Rocco Baldelli move to steal some bases, while Dan thinks Rocco should have given Bailey Ober an earlier hook in Game 3 -- if he chose to start him at all. Dan also asks what role Eddy Julien has on this team, and David ponders whether this 0-3 start will get even worse against the Chicago White Sox this week. They also look around the league at the automatic strike zone challenge system data, a highlight for a former Twins player and a big day for the Yankees (new) bats. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

The Purest Pure Hitter on the Roster (2025 Minnesota Twins Season Preview)
3/26/2025
Send us a text
The Major League Baseball season is officially here for the Minnesota Twins, and to kick it off David, Dan and Hoges offer their annual predictions for position players and pitchers. While there is some disagreement between them over the particulars, they all expect big things out of Matt Wallner and Carlos Correa. Whether they will be able to lead the team to the playoffs is something they agree on a good deal less. They discuss just how much the team will miss Royce Lewis as he recovers from an injury (ditto for Brooks Lee), and they share their takes on which starting pitcher will be the most (and least) effective this season. They also share their thoughts on the ownership sale that is slowly becoming a saga, and they look at the highs and lows of a schedule that looks easier at the start than it appears to be at the end. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

Moderate Isn't Mild (2025 Minnesota Twins Spring Training No. 4)
3/19/2025
Send us a text
The big news for the Minnesota Twins this week was about Royce Lewis -- and it wasn't a great kind of news. David and Dan discuss the most recent injury suffered by the oft-injured third baseman, looking at the ripple that creates down the roster, possibly leaving room for an unheralded newcomer who can play catcher, first and second. They also walk through what injuries in the bullpen might do to that bunch, while also celebrating that for the first time in a couple of years the rotation looks really solid. David wanders into a discussion about Formula One racing, which makes Dan wonder how often we'll get to see Tommy Watkins on Camera Feed No. 10 at Target Field this season. Baseball season is nearly here -- thanks for listening, and go Twins!

We Have Guys That Can Do That (2025 Minnesota Twins Spring Training No. 3)
3/11/2025
Send us a text
The Minnesota Twins make their first round of cuts this spring and Andrew "Hoges" Hoganson joins David to talk through the current state of the roster. The guys discuss the potential of Matt Wallner batting lead off for the Twins, and Wallner's issues last season stemming from putting on too much muscle in the offseason. David wants to know who is going to play 2nd base for this team, and he begs Hoges to tell him there's a possibility that Buxton, Correa, and Lewis will all play in a good amount of games together this year. The boys discuss their level of optimism for the season, and discuss Baldelli's newly expressed love for llamas. New Era's new hat logos are ridiculed, and the guys try not to show happiness at the injury news coming out of New York for Gerrit Cole. Thanks for listening, and as always, go Twins!

Down with the Walls (2025 Minnesota Twins Spring Training No. 2)
2/25/2025
Send us a text
Now a week into spring training, the Minnesota Twins are hard at work erasing the poor finish from 2024 and preparing for 2025. David, Dan and Hoges discuss the latest news about the team, including the disappointing update about the sale of the team that has all three of them brainstorming billionaires. Maybe this is just another sign of the curse over Minnesota sports franchises. They also discuss the MLB's testing of the automatic balls and strikes system and then look around baseball at the biggest news from training camps: the Yankees' tearing down a decades-long tradition. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

Plenty of L's (2025 Minnesota Twins Spring Training No. 1)
2/16/2025
Send us a text
The Minnesota Twins kickoff full squad workouts and David and Dan are hyped for the return of baseball. David thinks the bullpen is all but settled, while Dan believes there's wiggle room to be found for the likes of Louie Varland and Eiberson Castellano. The final two player-position roster spots seem to be up for grabs and the boys believe this will be a sink-or-swim season for resident Canadian Eddie Julien. The guys question the number of "best-shape of his life" guys being touted, and they continue their long-running disagreement regarding the merits of La La Land. Thanks for listening, and as always, go Twins!

Who Else is Out There? (Twins Pitchers and Catchers Report, 2025)
2/12/2025

Spring training is nearly here, and just in time the Minnesota Twins finally made a trio of Major League signings. David and Dan discuss what the additions of Danny Coulombe, Harrison Bader and Ty France mean for this baseball season and how the Twins have made room for them on the roster. They also look at the new Twins broadcasting plans, which include some sensible rates in what were formerly blackout areas, as well as some new cameras at Target Field. They end by touching on an MLB betting scandal and then some better news from the Twins offseason. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

1/4/2025

Even though the Minnesota Twins have made very few moves this offseason and the movement on an ownership change has quieted of late, there is still plenty of intrigue around the team at the turn of the new year. David, Dan and Hoges revisit a number of topics, including the departure of a number of 2024 Twins players, the players who have signed across the league and the players who remain still on the roster heading into spring training. Less Clarity, More Judgment (2024 Minnesota Twins Season Recap)
11/11/2024
Send us a text
The World Series is over, and the 2024 Major League Baseball season is officially behind us. David, Dan and Hoges reflect on the season that was for the Minnesota Twins, who started slow, picked up the winning pace ... and then slowed to a crawl toward the finish line. They recap the Twins-related news of the last month and they also go over the predictions they made back in March at the dawn of what looked like a promising season. Then, with the lens wide enough to examine the whole season, they consider the choices of Rocco Baldelli, the biggest moments of the season, the grade the Twins deserve and then a few of the big questions heading into 2025. Thanks for listening, and as always, go Twins!

10/15/2024

The Pohlad family have announced their intention to sell the Minnesota Twins, the team has a new streaming deal in place for 2025, and the front office makes some coaching changes to the Twins staff. With so much happening in Twins Territory the boys couldn't stay away. David, Dan, and Andrew "Hoges" Hoganson discuss all of the big news coming from Target Field. David wants an owner who's willing to bankrupt themselves to win a World Series, while Dan and Hoges take a more reasonable approach. The guys discuss the history of the Pohlad family and the terrible interviews and statements made over the course of the last two seasons leading up to this decision. David can't hide his love for Peter Alonso as he talks about the Mets advancing to the NLCS, while Dan tries his best to keep his love for Aaron Judge in check. The boys finish up by giving their preferred World Series matchups. Thanks for listening, and as always, go Twins!

Excitement, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance (Orioles Series Recap, 9/27-9/29)
9/30/2024
Send us a text
The Minnesota Twins were swept by the Baltimore Orioles at Target Field, and were officially eliminated from the playoffs. David and Dan recap the miserable series and dive into all the breaking news regarding Rocco Baldelli retaining his position as manager, and Derek Falvey also staying on board in the front office. The boys discuss the Twins removing a fan from the stadium who held up signs criticizing ownership, and talk through some of the quotes from Correa and others about the disappointing end to the season. Dan wants to know how the Twins will replace Kepler in right field, while David takes issue with the position held by some that the Twins weren't that good to begin with so ownership not spending money was the right move last offseason and at the trade deadline. The boys finish up looking at the crazy NL Wildcard race and offer a heartfelt thank you to the loyal listeners this season. Thanks for listening, and as always, go Twins!

We'll Always Have Moneyball (Marlins Series Recap, 9/24-9/26)
9/27/2024
Send us a text
It's another disappointing series loss from the Minnesota Twins, who dropped two of three at home to the 100-loss Miami Marlins. David and Dan mourn the nearly certain end of any playoff hopes this team has, now that its path to the postseason is as narrow as it gets. David praises the play of Carlos Correa, and Dan hypes the Byron Buxton train (or is it a truck?), but they have plenty of questions for the rest of the roster after such a crucial series went awry. Still, they struggle to see exactly what Rocco Baldelli could have done differently to steer this ship better even a month ago. They have plenty to say about the final game in Oakland for the Athletics franchise, and they look a bit around the league as it heads into the final weekend of the regular season. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!
