Send us a text For the fourth time this season, the Minnesota Twins lost a series, this time at home to the first-place Detroit Tigers. But they did salvage at least a win, in Game 3, showing that even a fourth-place team still wins once in a while. With David taking a Buxton-like scheduled off-day, Hoges fills in to talk about the team with Dan, and both have lots to say about manager Rocco Baldelli. They question his handling of basically the entire roster, from decisions on pinch-hitting and pinch-running to how long to let starters and relievers stay in the game. In the end, though, they are the least impressed with how little impact it seems (so far) the changes he instituted in spring training have made to a team that resembles the one that ended last season far more than the team that cruised into first place last summer. Send us a text While Game 1 wasn't pretty, the Minnesota Twins did finally get one win and then another one to take two of three against the Chicago White Sox, evening them up with the rest of the AL Central's teams at 2-4. So in that sense, it's a whole new ballgame for the final 156 this Major League Baseball season. David and Dan discuss the lows of Chris Paddack's start and then the highs of the games that followed, which featured improved outputs from Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa. David really likes how Rocco Baldelli is managing leadoff man Matt Wallner, while Dan struggles to justify keeping Paddack on the active roster should the veteran starter struggle again the next time through the rotation.
