Story One – Footprints in the Snow The Antarctic region is notorious for being as unforgiving as it is beguiling. For those who work there, the psychological dangers associated with their posting can often be more dangerous than any physical hazard. In this chapter, we will examine the fate befalling one such soul. A man who disappeared in May 1965, leaving nothing but a set of footprints in the snow. Smartphones and texting have caused many of us to forget that until the early 2000s, complete strangers could call you at any time, for any reason. And if they said the right things to keep you from hanging up, you could find yourself subjected to all manner of psychological manipulation. Story One – Taken in the Night Stories of mysterious abductions have been with us for decades, to the point that they’ve become a huge part of Western culture. Unfortunately, this has erased much of the nuance surrounding these events, including strange occurrences felt before, during, and even after the “abduction” itself. Formerly known as Bolam Bog, it is part of a 65-hectare park teeming with deer and red squirrels. But some claim that there’s something else here as well – something far more dangerous. Story Two – Shadow of the Wendigo In the remote northern parts of the United States and Canada, whispers speak of an ancient presence that stalks the forests. Native tribes say it has always been there – a malevolent, cannibalistic beast with an insatiable desire for human flesh. Part Three What started out as a search and rescue effort soon turned into a serious investigation into the tragic and untimely deaths of nine young souls. There were many aspects of the case which were highly mysterious and seemed to suggest some sort of foul play. But by who? Or what?
