8/13/2013
When You Have to Be the Man published by Outskirts Press, illustrates the extraordinary things that can be expected with God as the man of the house. Single mothers are overloaded and overwhelmed with more responsibilities than any one person can handle. Often, these women set aside personal dreams and give up hope of living an extraordinary life due to family obligations. Single mothers are great warriors, women who will sacrifice their lives for their children. Their lives can be difficult and complex. When You Have to Be the Man reveals the great strength and resilience women and mothers have together with God. When You Have to Be the Man, challenges the traditional pattern of “thinking like a mom” by examining how one single mother found countless triumphs in her home and with her children by allowing the Christ within her to have authority in her life – by allowing Got to become her man.

The Things that Teens wish their Parents knew by DrStem Mahlatini

7/30/2013
Many teenagers are convinced that their parents have a running list of all the ways they can embarrass them in front of their friends, trick them into doing more chores or make their curfew earlier. One problem that teens have consistently complained about is parenting books are written by adults and not teens themselves. So I decided to write two books released last month June 2013 to give both the parents and teenagers a forum to bridge the gap between them. Today I will share with you what the Teens wish parents knew from my book 471/2 Things To say to Your Teen and How to say them and then Next time I will share with you what the parents wish their teens knew from my book 471/2 Things Teens Need to Know About Getting Along with Their Parents.

There are miracles and joys surrounding us in every moment. Have you found yours?

7/16/2013
Many people walk around in a haze, feeling vaguely unsatisfied with their lives and unsure what the answer is to feeling better. What Our guest has discovered is that most people aren’t lacking for joy in their lives, they just haven’t realized that it’s there, so they’re not taking the time to experience and appreciate what’s already available to them. If we can help teens to discover the pathway to joy, it’s something that will serve them for the rest of their lives; and if we can help their parents to discover the pathway, they can model the behavior for all of their children, regardless of age.

Tips on Pursuing Your Dreams

7/9/2013
So! You have figured it out. You understand who you are, you know what you want and why. Most of all, you are willing to do what it takes to get there. That is a huge step; celebrate it. However, it is important for you to realize that your dreams will not come over night, But every step counts. It will all make sense. Unfortunately, just before you take your first step on the righteous journey to pursue your dreams, people around you, even the ones who deeply care for you, will give you awful advice. It’s not because they have evil intentions. It’s because they don’t understand the big picture—what your dreams, passions, and life goals mean to you. They don’t understand that, to you, the reward is worth the risk. So they try to protect you by shielding you from the possibility of failure, which, in effect, also shields you from the possibility of making your dreams a reality. Today together with my guest Mr Steve Muzite, we will discuss some tips to help you throughout the process

Building resilience through everyday challenges-Guest Donna Volpitta, Ed.D.,

7/2/2013
Everyone faces challenges. Our resilience is how we respond to those challenges, which is guided by our understanding of four Ss: self, situation, supports, & strategies. Unfortunately, our neurological reaction to challenge is often counterproductive to framing those four Ss in a way that is resilient. I would like to talk a bit about how the brain works and why we have that reaction, how to stop the reaction, and how to use the Four Ss framework to use challenges as opportunities to build resilience.

Community of Respect-Effective Communication between People from Diverse backgrounds

6/25/2013
The program is divided into three modules that build upon another. In Module One we want our participants to first understand that they have culture; Learning that culture is not something they are born with but is something that is learned through imitation and teaching. In Module two, participants gain more personal insight as they learn what their value behaviors are on a value dimension continuum. We also learn about different cultural perspectives, verbal and nonverbal techniques practiced by different cultures. We stress that people must understand themselves first before we look at some cultural norms across other cultures. The last of our three modules deals with application of knowledge gained in modules one and two.

Dale Quotes Christopher Robin who said to Winnie the Pooh: “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. This candid and shocking memoir delivers a stunning account of shame, survival, and triumph. She not only wishes to discuss her memoir, but, more important, to deliver the inspirational message that it is possible to overcome overwhelming and difficult circumstances. Through her own life experiences, She wishes to share that one can find inner strength and courage. Depression Prevention: What if there was a depression vaccine?

5/14/2013
Children are given a series of vaccines over the first few years of their lives to prevent disease. In fact, most schools will not admit children if they have not taken these pre-emptive measures to protect their physical health. But what about mental health? What if there were a way to protect our youth against mental disease and disorder? Would you give your child a depression vaccine? Believe it or not, an inoculation as such does exist. By teaching our youth social and emotional learning skills as early as middle school we can boost their resilience and begin to mitigate childhood depression, anxiety, and even suicide. The era of reacting to trouble during the teen years is gone; the time for prevention has come. Renee Jain talks about concrete methods to teach tweens and teens how to increase their resilience and boost their overall well-being using fun and engaging research-based methods.

Teen-Parent Family Solutions

4/30/2013
Parenting teens is not an easy task. Quite often when our kids become teens, sometimes even as early as preteens, we notice a change occur in our kids and life becomes more of a struggle with them. Sometimes it's the casual rolling of the eyes, or it might be the little attitudes we pick up on, and sometimes it's the obvious distance that they put between us – where they intentionally push us away and no longer share with us or talk to us like they did when they were younger; and sometimes, we just don't see it until it's right there in front of us and we ask ourselves what happened and when. As parents, we are often left wondering, how do I close the gap and get back a good, warm and respectful relationship with our teens? At times it seems hopeless but there is always hope and there are certainly ways to relate differently with our teens and build that relationship you truly want to have with your kids.
