37 Years In The Making Sound Of Waves From John Cafferty And The Beaver Brown Band
4/9/2025
Rhode Island's multi-platinum John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band, will be celebrating 50+ years in the business with the release of "Sound of Waves," a new 13 song album, their first in 37 years. In 1982, John Cafferty was commissioned to write and perform the soundtrack for a film that turned out to be "Eddie and the Cruisers,' a rock cult classic with a triple platinum soundtrack. Cafferty's soulful, raspy voice propelled the movie's theme "On the Dark Side" to # 1 on the Billboard Rock charts and the MTV video charts, while the movie's second hit "Tender Years" rose into the Top 10 of the Billboard AC charts. Today John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band continue to tour around the world. That tour will bring them to NYC for an album release concert at the Cutting Room on Thursday, April 10th, the same date as the album release, from Moonstone Music. According to Cafferty, the new album almost didn't happen. After almost four decades of not writing and recording new music, he was encouraged by Bruce Springsteen to do it again. Over the years, Cafferty and company have jammed on stage with many of the greats of rock and roll, including Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Dion, and opened on tour with the Beach Boys, Foreigner, and Bryan Adams. Starting May 28th, Cafferty joins Rick Springfield on his "I Want My 80s Tour" for selected dates, along with John Waite and Wang Chung."The 'Sound of Waves' album is a celebration of a lifetime legacy as musicians and 50+ years as a band. The songs are newly written with a respectful reflection of colors from an era of music's diverse history and the precious life moments and loving relationships that have served as our hearts' inspiration," said Cafferty. The title track from the group's 1985 album, "Tough All Over" became their second # 1 on the Billboard Rock Charts and the song "C-I-T-Y" reached the Billboard Top 20. Over the years, John has placed 35 songs in major motion pictures. They included Sylvester Stallone's "Rocky "IV," and "Cobra." The Farrelly Brothers hit films "There's Something About Mary" and "Dumb and Dumber Too," & Eddie and the Cruisers I and II. The lead single from the group's upcoming album is "Day In the Sun," which was spotlighted in Peter Farrelly's film "Rick Stanicky." Here's a video link of a live performance: Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1xHCR8BDus All songs on the new release were written by Cafferty. The Rhode Island rockers put out their first "Greatest Hits" album in 2022 on Iconoclassic Records. In addition to band founder Cafferty, two original members remain in the group. They are guitarist Gary Gramolini and saxophonist Michael "Tunes" Antunes.

Growing up with both White and Hispanic heritage, Lucia struggled to connect with her Mexican roots as she was raised away from that side of her family. As a passionate music lover raised in Washington state, Lucia was particularly influenced by Brandi Carlile. A chance encounter in 2018, while Lucia was helping set up for Brandi's rehearsal at her high school, led to an impromptu singing session with one of the band members. Brandi overheard Lucia's talent and invited her to perform at a fundraiser concert. Today, Lucia performs regularly at local festivals and recently achieved a milestone by headlining her first show.

Called To Be On A Performance Stage Ethan Eckenroad From Season 27 Of NBCs The Voice
4/8/2025
Ethan was surrounded by music in the home his father built, with musical sisters and piano-playing mother shaping his early influences. His talent flourished as a worship leader in his local church band, where he performed until 2022. Most songs in his repertoire are inspired by his wife, Savannah, his high school sweetheart of nearly 10 years. Their love story recently welcomed a new chapter with daughter Josie, named after Ethan's musical grandmother, Josephine. When he's not performing his original music in intimate acoustic shows above the coffee shop where he works as a roaster, Ethan can be found embracing his small-town roots through hiking in his beloved Pennsylvania hometown.

Toil Trouble And Transformation After Disney From Author And Historian Neil OBrien
4/7/2025
Walt Disney left behind big dreams when he died in 1966. Perhaps none was greater than the hope that his son-in-law, Ron Miller, would someday run his studio. Under Miller's leadership, Disney expanded into new frontiers: global theme parks, computer animation, cable television, home video, and video games. Despite these innovations, Ron struggled to expand the Disney brand beyond its midcentury image of wholesome family entertainment, even as times and tastes evolved. Tensions between Miller and Walt's nephew, Roy E. Disney, threatened to destroy the company, leading Wall Street "Gordon Gekko" types to come after Mickey Mouse. At the same time, the aging Animation Department- once the core of Walt's business-was one memo away from shutting down forever. Rather, thanks to the radical efforts of Walt's veterans to recruit and nurture young talent, it was revived by this sudden influx of artists who would go on to revolutionize the film industry. Additionally, this new generation would prove over time that animation was so much more than just kids' stuff- it was a multibillion-dollar industry. After Disney is the upstairs-downstairs story of the executives and animators who clashed and collaborated to keep America's most storied company alive during the most uncertain period in its one hundred year history.

Share Your Story Or Someone Will Write It For You Lacy Fewer Shares Yankeeland
4/5/2025
Imagine discovering that your family has been harboring secrets for several generations. If you were Lucy Fewer, what would you do with this new information? Fewer, who resides in Ireland, was confronted with a family history that had not seen the light of day for many decades until she was given two large mail bags of belongings and letters from her deceased grand aunt.
From the contents of these bags, Fewer unpacked the troubled lives of her grandmother and grand aunt, as told through hundreds of letters and postcards that the sisters wrote to each other, one from Ireland, the other from America. Some of the letters had never been sent or read, unsealed for the first time in 70 years. That happened 30 years ago. Now, with time to reflect on the meaning of these century-old letters, while conducting additional research, Fewer was inspired to write an award-winning, debut literary novel with historical relevance, entitled Yankeeland.

Rediscovering Your Power Of Wonder Laura Munson Releases The Wild Why
4/4/2025
Why is the sky blue? Why do only birds get to fly? Is there a God? And if so, why does God let bad things happen? Why do people die? It’s natural for children to ask questions, big and small. But too often, adults brush off such questions as an annoyance, or scold kids for being rude, or even respond to their asking with punishment. When that happens, many children stop asking and grow up to become adults who believe it’s safer to stay quiet and squelch their inherent, and essential, sense of wonder.
A deeply personal memoir and richly insightful, empowering guide, THE WILD WHY interweaves stories, awakenings, and lessons with teachings, exercises of exploration, and calls to action for the reader to find their own wild why. At the heart of it all is wonder. What is wonder anyway? As Laura Munson explains, wonder is what even cynics feel and think when they see a rainbow: curiosity mixed with awe. And because the experience is universal, wonder drives empathy.
Following Laura Munson’s evolution as a writer and a wonderer through life’s unexpected turns, including success and divorce, THE WILD WHY also welcomes readers to come along on her travels to wonderful places all over the world. From the woods of Montana, to a hammam in Morocco, to hill towns in Mexico and Tuscany, to an ancient stone circle in Ireland…we revel in what she receives: the ability to surrender, the power of kindness, and a greater appreciation for life’s mysteries, the universe, others, and, yes, herself. THE WILD WHY affirms a universal truth - as Laura Munson attests: “We’re all creative! Every act of living is creative. Every step we take, every choice we make, every word that comes out of our mouth—it’s all an act of creation!” What could be more wonderful than that?
