Gaslighting, Trauma Bonding & Other Things That Got Popular on Instagram

7/8/2025
Amy and Kat are feeling tired and in need of a reset. Enter: Sky Journaling! It’s a creative exercise that blends mindfulness with doodling and ends in some very honest cloud-inspired poems. They also break down the difference between pop psychology vs actual psychology, unpacking commonly used (especially on social media) terms like trauma bonding, gaslighting, and being triggered. And finally, inspired by a school activity Amy’s son is doing, they invite you to “find a win” (big or small) because sometimes, showing up at all is the victory. If you do the Sky Journaling homework assignment and you don’t mind if it gets shared on an upcoming episode then email it in: HeyThere@FeelingThingsPodcast.com Call and leave a voicemail: 877-207-2077 HOSTS: Amy Brown // RadioAmy.com // @RadioAmy Kat Van Buren // @KatVanburen See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Write Your Story: An Unexpected Reason You Don’t Feel Supported

7/6/2025
In today’s episode of Write Your Story with Ally Fallon, I share a metaphor I’ve been using in my yoga classes lately that has served me in the rest of my life, too. If you’re new here, or if you missed it, I’m teaching yoga! For now it’s one each week at Hot Yoga of East Nashville, a free / donation based 60 minute flow class on Fridays at 4:30. If you’re in Nashville or if you come to visit, come see me at the studio! Sign up for class for free on the MindBody app. I’m learning so much from returning to my yoga practice and from teaching. I’m reminded that my relationship to one thing is my relationship to everything, and so the lessons I learn in practice carry over to my life off the mat. I’m sharing one of those lessons in today’s episode. Host: Ally Fallon // @allyfallon // allisonfallon.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Soul Sessions: July 2025 Astrology Forecast (Part 2): Being Forged By Fire

7/4/2025
In this episode of Soul Sessions with Amanda Rieger Green: July 2025 brings powerful astrological currents with Saturn Retrograde and Mercury Retrograde guiding us through a period of deep introspection and self-redefinition. These shifts, along with a transformative New Moon in Leo, encourage us to cultivate a deeper sense of presence and authenticity. Key Astrological Dates for July (Part 2): Join Amanda for a FREE Full Moon Ceremony Missed Part 1 of the July Numerology & Astrology Forecast? Listen now. Beginning July 13th, Saturn Retrograde in Aries initiates a slow, introspective phase that focuses on maturity, responsibility, and practical action, prompting us to re-evaluate our foundations. It highlights the divine masculine as an inclusive force of drive and secure presence, emphasizing authentic, organic flow over rigid control. From July 18th to August 11th, Mercury Retrograde in Leo will dampen external creative expression and soften the ego's voice. While Leo typically "roars," this retrograde encourages a more subtle, heart-centered approach to self-expression. It's a time for revision, not launching new projects, allowing you to refine how you genuinely share your light. As the Sun enters Leo on July 22nd, a desire for playfulness emerges. Embrace this summertime fun vibe with enjoyable activities that balance your masculine and feminine energies. The New Moon in Leo on July 24th at 3:11 PM ET calls for stillness and amplifying your light from within. It signifies a rebirth of authentic self-expression, shifting your energy towards presence over performance. Use this time to set intentions for showing up unapologetically and reclaiming joy as a sacred practice. Chiron Retrograde begins July 30th in Aries, surfacing wounds around identity, ego, anger, and rage. Chiron, the wounded healer, reminds us that sharing our deepest traumas can lead to healing for ourselves and others. Chiron's conjunction with Asteroid Ares brings divine discord to reveal truth and force issues to a head. This period is about being forged by fire, stripping away old layers to birth your divine warrior. Reclaim your sacred rage—allowing passion and anger to flow through you honorably, without directing it at others. This is a beautiful time to reorient your core power. What does presence feel like to you? What are you truly present for, and what is your presence radiating? Your gift lies in the present moment. Join Amanda for a FREE 30-minute live Full Moon Ceremony via Zoom on Thursday, July 10 at 7:00 PM CST. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Hot Girl Hamster Wheel

7/1/2025
Amy and Kat explore the subtle (and not-so-subtle) pressures women feel and how easy it is to get caught in the cycle of “doing all the things” to feel worthy. Inspired by the book Rich Girl Nation, Kat breaks down the idea of the “hot girl hamster wheel” and what it’s costing us (not just financially, but emotionally!) They talk about the power of opting out or just simply learning to do something because you actually WANT to do it (and you can afford to do it) not because you feel like you have to! Also in this episode: • The “choose your hard” list you didn’t know you needed • Embarrassing moments that shouldn’t be embarrassing • A listener’s card-free journal tradition that could be a Hallmark movie Call and leave a voicemail: 877-207-2077 Email: heythere@feelingthingspodcast.com HOSTS: Amy Brown // RadioAmy.com // @RadioAmy Kat Van Buren // @KatVanburen See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Write Your Story: In a Chaotic World, We Need More of This Lost Art

6/28/2025
Write Your Story with Ally Fallon: Human beings have a primal need that we don’t often talk about. It’s not food or water or love, although we need those things too. It’s the human need that drives you to watch Netflix, scroll Instagram, gasp at a text message that says, “you’ll never guess what happened!?” and even binge a great audiobook (the three I mention in the episode are in the notes below). And yet unlike food, water and love, this primal need often gets overlooked. No wonder we’re depressed or bored or dysregulated or overwhelmed. We’re treating a basic need we have like it’s secondary; and that oversight is costing us. I invite you to find ways to bring back this “lost” art so we can rediscover meaning, clarity and connection in our lives. Check out THE TELL HERE! Check out The Anxious Generation HERE! 6/28/2025
What's God Got To Do With It? With Leanne Ellington: In the second episode titled "God In the Good," we pick up as Mattie Jackson continues sharing her transformative journey after losing her 28-year-old husband to a traumatic brain injury three weeks shy of their first wedding anniversary. She shared an inside peek behind her own healing process, and how God helped her shift her focus from everything she lost to everything she still had. In the midst of unthinkable tragedy, Mattie shares how she faced the challenges of moving beyond survival, facing grief, sorrow, and trauma, and rebuilding life with hope. But God showed her life beyond this tragedy -- one that she could have never imagined....until she was ready for it. She eventually found purpose in her grief, and shared the power of turning "your mess into your message" and finding fulfillment in impacting others who are struggling in similar ways. Through her work with Nashville (the non-profit she co-founded to support widows and orphans) and writing a memoir, Mattie found purpose, honoring her late husband's legacy and demonstrating the transformative potential of choosing joy amid pain. She also shares about her journey to finding love again after the death of her husband. As she delves into her own redemption story, Mattieie shares how God not only redeemed her personal life but also her purpose-filled professional life, and now she truly believes in the coexistence of pain and joy, sharing her belief that when one has the courage to delve into the depths of pain, joy's well gets deeper GUEST: @mattiejackson Mattie's Website: https://www.mattiejackson.net/ Mattie's Podcast: In Joy Life Podcast Mattie's Book: Lemons on Friday HOST: Leanne Ellington // StresslessEating.com // @leanneellington To learn more about Leanne, head over to www.LeanneEllington.com, and to share your thoughts, questions, feedback, or guest suggestions instantly, head on over to www.WhatsGodGotToDoWithIt.com. Soul Sessions: July 2025 Numerology & Astrology Forecast: Initiation Through Disintegration

6/27/2025
Soul Sessions with Amanda Rieger Green: July is an incredibly potent and transformative month, acting as both a transitional period and a powerful frequency portal. You might experience moments of confusion, but these are often signs of a sacred initiation, guiding you through a profound shift. This month amplifies the themes of 2025, a 9 universal year in numerology, signifying endings and drastic, dynamic change. Consider what's being stripped away in your life, allowing you to resonate more deeply with your soul essence. Old contracts and conditions that no longer serve your highest good are dissolving. Actionable Wisdom for July: - Prioritize Solitude: Create dedicated time for inner reflection and connection. - Practice Self-Care: Engage in activities that rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul. - Listen to Your Body: Pay close attention to its responses, especially with the heightened energies. - Trust the Dissolving Process: Release what no longer serves you with grace. - Embrace Stillness: This is your anchor amidst the energetic shifts. - Connect with Your Soul: Your inner wisdom and guides are your strongest allies. July itself is a 7 universal month in numerology. The combination of the 9-year and 7-month energy creates a powerful "hermit" archetype. Solitary time is crucial for receiving "aha" and expansive moments. This doesn't mean isolating yourself, but rather consciously creating daily space to go within and rejuvenate. Remember to connect with your soul, your intuition and spirit guides are powerful sources of communication during this time. Key Astrological Dates for July (Part 1): July 4th: Neptune Stations Direct in Aries – This signifies an actionless initiation, where deep inner movement occurs even when you feel still. July 4th: Venus Enters Gemini – This transit brings a playful, flirty energy to love and relationships. It encourages creativity and a willingness to let your desires change. July 7th: Uranus Enters Gemini – Expect a profound upgrade to the collective nervous system and a significant surge of energy. Stillness and self-care are paramount to avoid feeling overwhelmed. July 10th: Full Moon in Capricorn (4:37 PM ET) – This powerful full moon illuminates what burdens and responsibilities you might be carrying that were never truly yours. This is also an excellent time to revisit your long-term vision (5-10 years) and ensure your daily routines align with your desired legacy. Ready to embrace the transformative energies of July? How Angry Are You? (Mild, Medium, or Hot) + Things That Defeat ADHD Brains & More

6/24/2025
Amy’s feeling angry, but she’s thankful for it showing her what matters and where her boundaries need to be. They impromptu come up with a “salsa scale” to measure anger: mild (annoyed), medium (mad), and hot (furious) and, surprisingly, it really is a good way to explain the level of anger you’re at. Also in this episode: • Borderline impossible errands for ADHD brains (returning things, getting gas, mailing stuff... relatable, right?) • Kat’s new jewelry hobby and how hobbies help anxiety • A listener email about talking to someone on a dating app who doesn’t realize they’ve met you in real life! • A listener voicemail on standing up to sexist comments at work Call us anytime at 877-207-2077 and remember: you’re a sunflower, they’re just an ugly weed pretending to be fancy (encouragement from Kat to Amy that’ll make sense once you listen!) Write Your Story: Let AI Take Over Everything but This

6/22/2025
Write Your Story with Ally Fallon: AI has been a constant topic of conversation lately, mainly because we’re watching the world change at a rapid pace in ways that are unprecedented and can be unnerving. We’re in uncharted territory. As nostalgic as I can sometimes feel about a time when iPhones didn’t rule our lives, I tend toward the belief that, in general, the best times are ahead of us — not behind. I even recorded an episode a few weeks ago encouraging creative people not to be afraid of what AI can do for creativity: In this episode, I want to flag a concern I do have about the current AI takeover. It’s not a concern about AI taking over creative jobs or writing all future published books. It’s about something much more personal. Take a listen and tell me what you think. Write Your Story: Who Is Narrating Your Story?

6/14/2025
Write Your Story with Ally Fallon: If we’re all a sort of “hero” in our own personal narrative, it begs an obvious question: who is narrating the story? I watched Harold and the Purple Crayon on Netflix with my kids over the weekend, a children's book turned movie where the main character of a book goes searching for the narrator of his story so that he can better understand his purpose in life. My kids thought the movie was hilarious. I found it deeply thought-provoking. Who is narrating my story? Who is narrating your story? This is a question (and an answer) I explore in today’s episode.
