The State house Transportation chairman is pushing a bill that would stop sending state money earmarked for road and bridge repair to the Pennsylvania State Police. A Philadelphia family is demanding answers after a grave mishap at their loved one's burial. The future of two Delaware County hospitals is still unclear after a deadline to get them funding comes and goes. A South Jersey assemblyman has introduced a package of bills to protect the public from fires and environmental issues at scrap and recycling facilities.

Prospect to close Crozer Health System if it doesn't get $9M by Wednesday evening

There were injuries reported following an accident involving a school bus in New Castle County, Delaware. The school district says there were students on the bus, but none of them needed to be taken to the hospital. The Crozer Health System could close as early as Thursday if its parent company does not get millions in additional funding. We may never know exactly what ignited the explosion at the chocolate factory in West Reading that killed seven people in March of 2023, but the NTSB says they tracked the source of the explosion to a leak in a pipe fitting. SEPTA cameras will soon generate tickets for drivers parked in bus lanes

Drivers who stop in bus lanes in Philadelphia will soon be ticketed by automatic cameras mounted inside SEPTA buses and trolleys. All police officers in Gloucester County are now carrying Narcan and a tourniquet with them at all times as part of a new program. KYW South Jersey reporter Mike Dougherty tells us it was inspired by the death of Officer Bobby Shisler. Officials in Delaware County are putting a ban on ghost guns and converters for firearms.

The KYW Newsradio All-Local on Monday, April 7, 2025 (midday edition): A man was killed by police in Pottstown after fleeing the scene of a car crash, barricading himself in his home for five hours, and shooting an officer, authorities said. ... Federal cuts have scuttled two big programs the Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA) was planning in Grays Ferry and Kensington. At a budget hearing last week, PEA’s president told City Council that other programs may have to be scaled back without more city funding. ... The Mazzoni Center, a Philadelphia LGBTQ+ nonprofit, typically holds a large transgender wellness conference every year. This year, it is doing away with the event, opting instead for year-round programming.

The Montgomery county district attorney's office is investigating after they say a man opened fire and shot a police officer following a car crash in Pottstown. Officials say just after five Sunday evening, Pottstown police responded to an accident involving two cars at Beech and North Mount Vernon Streets. Authorities say a man in one of the cars tried to reach for a gun in the car, leading to a struggle with police officers. The man ran away to his home on winding road. Officials say once the suspect got there, he barricaded himself inside, pulled out a gun, and shot at the cops... hitting one of them in the shoulder. That cop is recovering in the hospital. Officials have not identified the suspect. A Philadelphia LGBTQ Non-profit that typically holds a large transgender wellness conference every year, is doing away with event in 2025, instead looking to create year-round programming. KYW's Vik Raghupathi has more: The Philadelphia energy authority has been hit hard by the federal cuts and it's asking City Council to help it continue its work by increasing what Mayor Parker proposed in her budget. Protesters in Philadelphia and the suburbs joined others in cities across the nation yesterday to stage organized rallies against President Trump's and Elon Musk's government cuts and other policies They called the event a Hands Off day of action. Despite the dreary weather this weekend, spring is starting to pop, at least when you look at the trees. That includes Fairmount Park, which has been packed as people soak up the Cherry Blossom Festival. A 23-year-old woman was followed from work in the suburbs all the way into the city and shot in the head. The victim told investigators she was followed on 76 East by a black Nissan after leaving her King of Prussia workplace early Saturday morning. Amtrak tragedy: Train strikes, kills father and 2 sons on the tracks in Bucks County

Bucks County officials are mourning the death of a beloved county employee who was killed Thursday afternoon. Authorities identified him and his two sons as the people hit by an Amtrak train near the Bristol Station. Spark Therapeutics, a pioneer in gene therapy, will be cutting more than half its workforce from its University City headquarters by the end of the year. The Junior League of Philadelphia wants to keep kids well-fed and healthy. So they're rolling out their annual Kids in the Kitchen program that educates youth on food insecurity. With too many educational roles open in Delaware County, officials are going all-out on their recruiting plan. Eight people have been charged in a violent spree of carjackings and shootings in Philadelphia and Montgomery County. State Senator Vincent Hughes and Senator Art Haywood came together in Northwest Philly to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., on the 57th anniversary of his death. One of pro wrestling’s big two companies is coming to Philadelphia tomorrow night (SUN). All Elite Wrestling is bringing their pay-per-view Dynasty event to the Liacouras Center. It's the first time it's held one of its monthly premium shows here. And for one title contender, it's a hometown return. One of the area's top basketball coaches is getting a shot at running a Division I program.

The mayor is accused of driving drunk with her toddler in the backseat on St. Patrick’s Day. Philadelphia’s Democratic City Committee declined to make an endorsement in the District Attorney primary election, scheduled for May 20, but some individual wards are choosing a candidate to endorse. Following a 30 million dollar renovation and two decades of planning, PATCO’s Franklin Square station is open again for the first time since 1979.

Local leaders say American business and consumers will suffer the most after President Trump announced his sweeping tariff plan this week. A minimum 10-percent tariff will be levied on all goods imported into the U-S, but dozens of countries that have tariffs on U-S goods will face higher "reciprocal tariffs." Pennsylvania Democratic Congressman Brendan Boyle calls it the single largest tax increase in the nation's history, and says Americans with the lowest incomes will suffer the most. A teenager wanted for shooting and killing another teen on a SEPTA bus in West Philadelphia last month is in police custody -- arrested Thursday afternoon in Montgomery County.
