The trial starts today of two men accused of breaking into a Lower Merion home in the middle of the night in December, killing a 25-year-old and seriously wounding his mother, after they went the wrong address in attempt to steal guns. Mural arts Philadelphia’s porch light program hosted a block party with a purpose. It was called 'a better world is possible,' sharing the same title of the art installation that serves as a call to action against gun violence. While the calendar still says July, the first day of school is right around the corner. Officials in Burlington county are collecting essential school supplies for kids from low income families.

District Council 33 agreed to a tentative, three-year contract earlier this month. The deal would raise worker wages nine-percent over that span, much less than what the union was originally asking for. Philadelphia police are investigating an apparent road rage incident in the city's Kensington section that ended with an innocent bystander being hit. ... A weekend curfew is now in full effect in Trenton. City officials have issued an emergency executive order imposing a nightly curfew on East State Street between Carroll Street and South Broad Street. This so called "Club City Hall" section, they say, has become a growing problem with late night crowds, out-of-control parties, vandalism, and other disruptive conduct. Businesses in that area must now close by 10pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. ... With a midday celebration at City Hall, the Phillies and the city have revealed plans for next summer’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park. We get the story from KYW’s Mike DeNardo… A long-awaited marijuana legalization bill from a Philadelphia Democrat and an Erie County Republican has been introduced in the Pennsylvania Senate. While it likely won’t be passed in time for this year’s budget, KYW Suburban Bureau Chief Jim Melwert takes a look at its chances of eventually getting across the finish line: A woman was shot and killed near a church in North Philadelphia early this morning. KYWs Tim Jimenez has the story from police headquarters. The recent, tragic death of a young girl killed while riding a electric scooter in Aston, Delaware County has officials reminding residents that those vehicles are not allowed on streets or sidewalks The first mosquito pool this year infected by West Nile Virus has been discovered in Northeast Philadelphia. Health officials expect to see more West Nile-positive pools across the city. As KYW’s John McDevitt reports, although no humans have contracted the disease, the health department is keeping a close eye on things.

This makes Dial eligible for immediate parole for time served. ... Police in Jackson Township, Ocean County, say a 61-year-old man died when lightning struck an outdoor archery range Wednesday evening. Thirteen other people were hurt, including a 7-year-old child. ... ICE agents arrested 14 people during a raid at a grocery store in West Norriton, Montgomery County, on Wednesday. ICE agents arrest 14 people in raid at Montgomery County farmers market

ICE agents arrested several people at a grocery store in West Norriton Township, Montgomery County yesterday (WED). Police in Jackson Township, Ocean County, say a 61-year-old man died when lightning struck an outdoor archery range Wednesday evening. 13 other people were hurt, including a 7-year-old child. Officials say one person required CPR, some suffered from burns, and one victim lost and then re-gained consciousness. Medics from six different townships came to the scene to help administer aid, and authorities say the victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment. SEPTA's planned service cuts next month would take effect one day before the first day of school, so Philly students may be hit with longer walks to class. Police officers and community members took to the hardwood in South Philly for a basketball game last night. The message: keeping kids off the streets and out of danger.

Authorities have released new pictures of two of the suspects wanted for the July 7th mass shooting that killed three people, and wounded nine others in the city’s Grays Ferry neighborhood. Family, friends, and community leaders joined dozens of police officers Tuesday to cut the ribbon on several new additions at Roxborough’s Kelly Park. This as members of District Council 33 begin voting on the tentative contract agreement with the city. KYW Newsradio's Sunny Morgan has the story. The strongest winter nor’easters have steadily grown more severe over the last eight decades, and will only become more damaging moving forward if climate change is not dealt with. That’s the finding from a paper published by a PENN professor, who KYW Newsradio's Vik Raghupathi spoke to. Pennsylvania’s budget is two weeks late, but the State House has passed a framework for this year's bill. It still needs work, but supporters hope it can get the process back on track. KYW Newsradio Suburban Bureau Chief Jim Melwert reports. Provisional Ballot envelopes in the Commonwealth have a new look. KYW Newsradio's John McDevitt reports the re-design is an effort to reduce the number of rejected ballots.
