============================Stats are in for the Colac Fire Brigades past 12 months with the local station registering 309 callouts across the last financial which is its busiest on record.
Colac Fire Brigade captain Dan Williams says 184 of those were in our primary area and 125 were out to support our surrounding brigades.
========================================================A landslip-prone embankment in Fairhaven is again showing signs of movement, with new cracks appearing along a 100-metre stretch near Lialeeta Road.
Locals have raised concerns since vegetation was cleared in 2020 by Forest Fire Management Victoria to create a fuel break.
========================================================Work on the Frank Mitchington Centre in Colac has begun this week with more chairs coming to Colac
Colac Area Health CEO Fiona Brew said yesterday that the works will take a month and see the community benefit in the long term.
========================================================First responders were kept busy over the weekend after a B-double spilled around 15,000 litres of milk at Glenfyne.
The trailer detached and rolled over just after 4am Sunday at the Cobden-Warrnambool and Maddens Bridge Road intersection — the same spot where a B-double rolled just six days earlier.

Emergency services were called to Tomahawk Creek Road around 3.40am, where a car had struck multiple trees.
The male driver died at the scene, while a male passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

============================================The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority has taken over management of key coastal areas, including parts of the Great Otway National Park.
Around 19,000 hectares have been transferred, including popular sites like Erskine Falls, Blanket Bay, and the Great Ocean Walk.
GORCAPA will fully manage the land from July 2026, with Parks Victoria continuing operations in the meantime.
