Concerns over the deadline for installing new pool fences in Quebec

In Quebec, an average of 36 drowning deaths happen per year in pools. To address the situation, the Quebec government has implemented a new pool fencing law, which states that all residential swimming pools, including those installed before 2010, are required to have a compliant safety fence to prevent children from accessing them unsupervised. With the deadline of September 30th fast approaching, homeowners and pool fencing companies aren't sure if all homes with un-fenced pools will make it in time for compliance. Is there too much value in the final ministerial exams?

Teachers and students are urging the Quebec government to not put so much value in the final ministerial exams at the end of the year. Quebec is the only province in Canada where some final exams account for 50 per cent of high school students' final grades. Some of the subjects are Quebec history and French. Michael Wadden is a grade 10 and 11 history teacher at Macdonald High School in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, he spoke to Andrew Carter.
