From an economic point of view, there is no good that could come from actually implementing protective tariffs. The key word being PROTECTIVE. Simply put tariffs increased the cost of goods to those who are purchasing them. If the cost of purchasing something increases, you are left with fewer resources to purchase additional goods. Trump, however, has figured out a way to get Mexico to put 10,000 of it's troops on our southern border to stop the flow of illegal immigration. I don't agree with Tulsi Gabbard on a lot, but I think this position she is interviewing for is perfect for her! There is a Chinese proverb that says, "May you live in interesting times." Well, we are certainly living in interesting times. Maybe not since FDR have we been on a path where such sweeping changes seem to be on the horizon. Birthright citizenship has been the law of the land since 1898, but could it be that the court was wrong in its understanding of the 14th Amendment? The short answer is yes but we'll have to wait and see. This could be a situation where the court overturns a longstanding, landmark ruling where it essentially the clause "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" applied only to sovereigns and diplomats. The quantity of pardons granted on inauguration day aren't really the issue.
