We’re continuing our expectations conversations on today’s show. On Tuesday we discussed Flyers “top tier” prospects like Porter Martone and Jack Nesbitt. Today, we’re diving into prospects who may not have star potential but could be contributors, like Alex Bump and Denver Barkey and Cole Knuble. Charlie & Bill will also talk expectations for the NHL or close-to-NHL defensemen for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

Today we’re talking about prospects! With Scott Wheeler’s top 100 prospect rankings as a jumping off point, Charlie & Bill discuss the ceiling and floor for the Philadelphia Flyers’ pool of future players.

The Philadelphia Flyers are expecting to be a lot better than the team that finished fourth from the bottom in 2024-25. So this week, Charlie & Bill are taking a look at Philly’s position groups, beginning today with the Orange & Black’s top-6 forwards. Could Matvei Michkov become a sophomore superstar? How will Tyson Foerster’s injury impact his season? Can Travis Konecny find consistency throughout the season?

On today’s show we’re diving deeper into the NHL’s new Collective Bargaining Agreement, and some off-ice news around the league, including the Draft potentially remaining decentralized. Charlie & Bill discuss the controversial state tax issue and its impact on contract prices and the tangible benefit for the no-tax teams.

While a surprise trade or other exciting move like an offer sheet could potentially still be on the table, it feels like Danny Briere’s heavy lifting is done for Summer 2025, having secured center depth in both free agency and the draft, upgraded the goaltending position, and taking a swing on a potential star in the Trevor Zegras trade. So with the offseason moves probably wrapped up, Charlie & Bill are debating their grades for Philly’s GM, as well as comparing where the Flyers are in their rebuild to historical rebuilds of the Salary Cap Era.

Is Danny done? There are still some lower level free agents available, and a few trade options that would require salary cap gymnastics, but there’s a strong chance the Philadelphia Flyers roster today is the roster we saw when training camp and the preseason begin.

We’re getting back into Flyers development camp on today’s episode, and exploring the prospects who might be a little further from the NHL but may be contributors one day. The Philadelphia Flyers’ last pressing bit of business is complete, as it was reported this morning that Cam York signed a 5-year contract extension worth $5.15 million annually. Charlie & Bill break down the defenseman’s signing and expectations for him going forward, before getting into development camp and young Flyers with a chance to make the club including Alex Bump and Porter Martone.

It’s day 2 of NHL’s league year, and the Flyers made several additions on day 1 of free agency, including adding Dan Vladar to the stable of goaltenders, and signing Christian Dvorak to the center depth chart. The 2025-26 NHL season officially gets underway today, with July 1st not only representing Canada Day, but the beginning of a new league year, as well. The Philadelphia Flyers got mostly incredible reviews for their draft, and now with free agency opening, Danny Briere has the job of augmenting the roster. Charlie & Bill discuss free agent targets for goalies, whether they expect Philly to sign Maxim Shabanov today, and if any major trades are on the horizon. Despite mixed reviews on the trade up to #12 for Jack Nesbitt, the additions of Porter Martone and a slew of 2nd round picks including Carter Amico and Shane Vansaghi have resulted in high marks from the nation media for Briere’s 3rd draft as general manager. Charlie & Bill dive into each pick from the weekend, before discussing what’s left on the Flyguys’ to-do list, with the new league year and free agency opening on Tuesday July 1.
