The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers' Post Bye Week Outlook, Final Trade Deadline Thoughts, AFC North Recap & More

11/4/2024
November 4, 2024 - Season 15, Episode 47 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the recent practice squad transactions made by the Pittsburgh Steelers that includes the signing of OT Dylan Cook back to the practice squad. We also examine the health of the Steelers coming out of their Week 9 bye and how the team should be relatively healthy heading into Week 10. The AFC North looks to be a three-team race at this point on the heels of the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals both notching big wins in Week 9. We look at the big Thursday night game that lies ahead for those two teams and also look at the big AFC picture entering Week 10. Alex and I go over the outlook for the 2024 Steelers with the second half of the season now on tap. We go over the strengths and weaknesses of the Steelers heading into the team's final nine regular season games. With the 2024 NFL trade deadline now almost 24 hours away, Alex and I take one last look at potential trade acquisitions the Steelers could secure at the wide receiver position. We also look at the plausibility of the Steelers trading for a position other than wide receiver in the next 24 hours. This 67-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers Vs. Giants All-22, Transactions, Coaching Staff Comments, Week 9 Picks & More

11/1/2024
November 1, 2024 - Season 15, Episode 46 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the latest transactions made by the Pittsburgh Steelers since our Tuesday episode. We talk quite a bit about the team’s decision to waive OT Dylan Cook on Thursday and the thinking behind that move. The Steelers also have CB Cameron Sutton back from the reserve/Suspended list and on a roster exemption until Monday so we discuss his status right now and the state of the rest of the roster when it comes to more transaction that could be coming by next Saturday. The Steelers used their bye week to get all of their position coaches in front of the media, so Alex and I make sure to go over some meaningful and notable things that a few of them said these last few days. We highlight a few things that special teams coordinator Danny Smith had to say this week as well. Alex and I then transition into going over what we both learned from the All-22 tape from the Steelers’ Monday night game against the Giants. We start on the offensive side of the football and then move over to the defense. We discuss several plays, schematics, and the play of several players during this segment. The Baltimore Ravens traded for WR Diontae Johnson a few days ago so we discuss that news and what it means for that team. We also look at the possibility of the Steelers trading for a wide receiver before next Tuesday’s deadline. As usual, Alex and I use the Friday show to give all of our picks for this week’s NFL games against the spread. This 104-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. 10/29/2024
Oct. 29 – Ep. 31: On this episode of The Depot Dive, Joe Clark and Ross McCorkle begin by recapping the Week 8 win over the New York Giants to advance to 6-2 ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers' bye week. We discuss the offense's ability to move the ball and inability to score in the red zone. We also discuss the defense allowing big plays and the dominance of T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers Vs. Giants Recap, Pregame Roster Moves, Inactives, Injuries, Listener Emails & More

10/29/2024
October 29, 2024 - Season 15, Episode 45 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Tuesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers beating the New York Giants at home Monday night to improve to 6-2 on the 2024 season. We go over the pregame roster moves and the team's inactive list from Monday early in this show. That includes us discussing rookie WR Roman Wilson being placed on the Reserve/Injured list and what that might mean for him moving forward. We also discuss the overall health of the Steelers coming out of their Monday night win and into their bye week. With only the TV tape digested, Alex and I proceed to recap the Steelers’ Monday night win against the Giants and as usual, we start on the offensive side of the football. We talk about the offense’s ability to move the football against the Giants' defense and how they were unable to have overall success in the red zone throughout the game. We highlight the play of QB Russell Wilson against the Giants, the effectiveness of the running game and our overall thoughts of how the offensive line played at first glance. We highlight several positive plays the offense made and how the unit racked up plays that went for 10 yards or longer. We go over the two missed touchdowns that went to WR George Pickens. We discuss the prospects of the offense moving forward with Wilson at quarterback after his first two games played. After fully breaking down the play of the Steelers' offense on Monday night, Alex and I flip over to the defensive side of the football. We discuss that unit’s inability to stop the run throughout the game and the several explosive plays that were allowed. We go over the positive performances that OLB T.J. Watt and OLB Alex Highsmith had against the Giants and especially in the second half of the contest. Special teams made another impact for the Steelers on Monday night, so we discuss that topic and that includes the long punt return for a touchdown by WR Calvin Austin III that ignited the team in the second half. We review my pregame five keys ahead of the Monday night game against the Giants and go over several other talking points coming out of the home win., Alex and I also discuss the prospects of the 2024 Steelers moving forward past the bye week and if they should be considered playoff contenders now and a team capable of winning in the postseason. 10/28/2024
October 28, 2024 - Season 15, Episode 44 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepare for their Week 8 Monday night home game against the New York Giants. We go over the updated injury report that the Steelers released over the weekend which now includes QB Justin Fields as questionable for Monday night with a hamstring injury. We ponder if Fields will even dress Monday night as the emergency third quarterback. The Steelers are likely to have a transaction or two on Monday afternoon so we go over those possibilities. We also discuss the team hopefully getting several injured players back after their upcoming bye week. Alex and I welcome Dan Duggan of The Athletic to the Monday show, and he helps us get started with a preview of the Steelers' home game against the Giants. Duggan has covered the Giants for some time and that means he has a great pulse on the team. We go over the Giants' injury situation heading into Monday night and who might get the start at left tackle. We go over the state of the Giants with Dan heading into Monday night and what the visiting team's plan of attack on both sides of the football should be. At the end of our talk with Dan we get his thoughts on the Giants possibly trading away WR Darius Slayton soon. He also gives us his score prediction for the Steelers-Giants game. The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers Transactions, Injury Report, Coordinator Comments WR Trade Market, Week 8 Picks & More

10/25/2024
October 25, 2024 - Season 15, Episode 43 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers as they continue to prepare for their Week 8 Monday night home game against the New York Giants. The Steelers have made a few more transactions since our last episode and those included ILB Tyler Matakevich having his 21-day window being opened and WR Andy Isabella being sighed to the practice squad. We address those two moves and go over what we might see happen transaction-wise on Monday afternoon. The Steelers first injury report of Week 8 was released on Thursday, so we make sure to recap it. We also look at the Giants' injury situation heading into Friday's practice. On Thursday, we once again heard from all three of the Steelers' coordinators, Arthur Smith, Teryl Austin, and Danny Smith. As usual, Alex and I recap the few main talking points to come out of those media sessions. The Los Angeles Rams beat the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night and with that win it seems very doubtful that they will be trading WR Cooper Kupp. We discuss that development and then transition into talking about a few remaining trade targets the Steelers might have at the wide receiver position as the annual deadline creeps closer. We give some early thoughts on the Steelers upcoming Monday night game versus the Giants later in this show. Alex and I then give our picks against the spread for all of the Week 8 NFL games. On Monday, we will fully preview the game between the Steelers and the Giants and give our predictions for that contest. The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers Vs. Jets All-22, Tomlin Tuesday, Transactions, Injuries, Cooper Kupp & More

10/23/2024
October 23, 2024 - Season 15, Episode 42 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the latest transactions made by the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of their first practice of Week 8. We also discuss the health of the Steelers stemming from what HC Mike Tomlin said during his Tuesday press conference. Tomlin's Tuesday press conference provided quite a few talking points for Alex and me to discuss. We talk about his thoughts on QB Rusell Wilson versus the Jets, the challenge C Ryan McCollum faces in Week 8, the status of WR Roman Wilson, the play of T Broderick Jones on Sunday night, and much more. Tomlin also gave his thoughts on the effectiveness of play-action against the Jets, so Alex and I go over those comments and how it all looked on tape. Alex and I then transition into going over what we both learned from the all-22 tape from the Steelers Sunday night game against the Jets. We start on the offensive side of the football and then move over to the defense. We discuss several plays, schematics, and the play of several individual players during this segment. Alex and I look at where optimism should be concerning the 5-2 Steelers when it comes to the team not only possibly making the playoffs but winning a game in the tournament as well. Another wide receiver trade happened in the NFL on Wednesday morning as the Tennessee Titans dealt WR DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs. We discuss that deal, in addition to it sounding like the Los Angeles Rams might be willing to part ways with WR Cooper Kupp ahead of the trade deadline. We look at Kupp's contract, what the Rams seem to want as trade compensation, and the chances of the Steelers ultimately being able to acquire him. This 109-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.
