On the morning of 4th December 2024, UnitedHealth Insurance CEO Brian Thompson was walking over the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan for an investors' conference when he was brutally shot and killed by a masked gunman, later identified and arrested as 26 year old Luigi Mangione. This case was quickly picked up by various outlets due to the brazen nature of the killing as well as the high profile victim; only for it to take a rather unhinged turn online. In May of 2016, police officers in West Hollywood, California, would respond to calls regarding a missing persons report. Upon arrival at a suspect's address, they would find the front door barricaded from the inside, only to discover an even more gruesome scene once they had made their way in. Blood all over the floor and the walls, bits of flesh and muscle scattered in and around the apartment, and the grizzly sight of a mutilated body under a blanket, with the killer sitting right beside. In March of 2013, a video began circulating amongst Hong Kong netizens on Facebook depicting a man - Henry Chau - and his desperate plea for help in finding his missing parents. In late December of 2022, Coco (not her real name) was alone at the home of her boyfriend Lee Ki-Young when she noticed something peculiar about his apartment. She was looking for cat food but couldn't find any as she rummaged through the kitchen and living room. Tragically, upon putting out the fire and further investigating the scene, they would find the charred bodies of the apartments tenants: a pair of sisters named Asuka and Chihiro. In 1992, 24 year-old Lisa Ziegert was a teacher's aide in the small town of Agawam, Massachusetts, who held a part-time job at a gift shop called Brittany's. One day in April, she would leave for her part time job in the evening, only to never be seen alive again. Her co-worker would come in the next day to see Lisa's car still parked at the store, and signs of a struggle in the back storeroom.
