NJ lawmakers pass bill to enable sexual assault victims to track status of their cases

A bill to provide more transparency during the investigation of sexual assaults has now passed both chambers in Trenton, with the recent approval by the general assembly. Habitat for Humanity is celebrating the holidays by cutting the red ribbon on new affordable housing in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood. A token of thanks: More people expected to tip this holiday season

Holiday travel is in full swing and Triple-A anticipates record-setting volume driven by a significant rebound in air travel. In the Philadelphia five-county area, 1.3 million people are expected to travel 50 miles or more. Triple-A spokeswoman Jana Tidwell says 90% of them will be traveling by car and 7% by air. Tidwell says air travel is a significant reason for the record increase. This weekend is expected to be the busiest of the 12-day period between December 21st and January first. Tidwell says AAA also anticipates a rush of people returning after Christmas next Thursday and Friday. It’s the season of giving...and tipping. New Jersey lawmakers quickly introduced and passed a resolution, demanding answers from the federal government about drones. It’s a holiday Goat extravaganza …The Philly GOAT Project is asking the community to donate their Xmas trees this holiday season. A man from Harlseyville is accused of driving while high when he crashed into another car, killing a maried couple in their 80's back in June. Teen sentenced in shooting death of Nicholas Elizalde outside Roxborough High School

A 19-year-old man was sentenced Thursday to at least 3 decades behind bars after pleading guilty to his involvement in a fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy outside Roxborough High School 2 years ago. The Philadelphia School District has agreed to provide anti-discrimination training to its staff, as part of the resolution of a federal civil rights complaint by Jewish parents. Many of us sign up for credit cards because of the benefits, but a lot of those rewards go unspent.

City Council greenlights 76ers arena project in Center City

Philadelphia city council, today, gave final passage to the bills needed for a Center City arena, after a delay caused by protesters opposed to the development. The FAA issued a ban on the use of drones over critical infrastructure in few dozen towns and cities across New Jersey. That includes several places in our area. Several people who had ties to a South Philadelphia family pharmacy have been charged in a $20-million dollar Medicare fraud operation. The African American Museum in Philadelphia is debuting two new exhibitions ahead of its upcoming Kwanzaa celebration series.

Philadelphia police arrested another 14-year-old suspect in last Friday's shooting at crowded Christmas Village outside City Hall. The manager of a watch store in the Moorestown Mall was arrested on Tuesday after investigators discovered he allegedly put a hidden camera in the bathroom of the store and secretly recorded underage employees. In South Philly, they are gluing on the feathers and tuning up instruments for the 2025 Mummers Parade.

Arrest made in connection with 2023 shooting death of Simon Gratz High School student

Philadelphia police have made an arrest in the 2023 shooting death of a Simon Gratz High School student. A 50-year-old Perkiomen Township man will spend the rest of his life in prison, convicted of killing his mother and brother. The parents of a Macy’s security guard who was killed in a knife attack in the store, last year, has sued Macy’s Holdings for failing to adequately protect employees. A special program that eliminates tuition for individuals working to break into one of the regions most in demand trades. The longest-running continuous folk parade in the country will take place in Philadelphia for the 124th year on New Year's Day.

New 'Philly Stat 360' website shows how city government is operating

Lower Merion Township Police made a second arrest in connection with a deadly home invasion last week. More than 7 million dollars is on its way to help the city of Chester improve safety around the railroad system that runs through it. A 50-year-old Montgomery County man is on trial for two counts of first degree murder, accused of shooting his mother and brother inside the Perkiomen Township home where he lived with his mom. City officials can't figure out what's causing hot steam to billow up onto the sidewalk in front of Sang Kee Peking Duck House in Chinatown. TikTok and its parent company ByteDance are asking the supreme court to help them block the federal law that would ban the app in January.

After an unusually violent weekend in Philadelphia, Mayor Cherelle Parker appeared with law enforcement officials today to assure residents and visitors that they are working on preventing an increase in incidents of violence. The drones first spotted in New Jersey nearly a month ago have now been spotted in at least half a dozen states along the East Coast, spurring concern from residents and politicians alike. Lawmakers are now asking federal agencies for more autonomy in monitoring and enforcement -- and local officials are urging the government to give them more control over their skies.
